C’s Roll After a Shaky Start

3

So I hate to use the same photos twice in like a week, but work is wicked busy this week (not fixing to get any better either). Unfortunately this post is not going to be as long as previous entries. (Can anyone justify a 2 year deal for Andruw Jones for over $36 million? Manny all of a sudden is a bargain for that same money.) Thanks to Day Guy for checking in on the Pats post from Tuesday, very valid points and I would love for our secondary to show up this week and for Hobbs not to look like a giant pussy while attempting to tackle someone. But I digress…

I made it a point of watching the Celtics game last night and was a little scared in the first half. Not Patriots driving the field against Baltimore scared, but scared none the less. The defense was no where to be seen. Andre Igwodala (?) and Andre Miller were looking unstoppable. Every time the C’s would go up a couple, the Sixers would bomb right back down the court and tie the game. I’m all for “letting the boys play” but there were a few missed calls throughout the first half, especially right under the hoop.

Then the second half started and all fears were put to rest. The C’s shut down Andre Miller for most of the third quarter, not allowing a bucket from him until there was about 3 minutes left in the quarter. How about James Posey and Eddie House? A combined 7 for 13 behind the line for the game, just nasty. They ended up winning 113-103 and had 5 players in double digits including House and Posey. For all the play that the “Big Three” Danny really picked up some great role players from the bench and Big Baby Davis is looking like a steal in the draft.

And as much as we all berated Doc for his coaching, it’s amazing what he’s doing with players on the team. He’s giving guys their proper rest (Garnett getting most of Thursday night off in preparation for Friday’s game in Miami), that’s smart. It’s Francona-esque. There’s a link up on ESPN that I want everyone to bookmark, because it really shows how good this C’s team is:

Back tomorrow in full force with a Pats vs. Steelers preview, and of course any Red Sox signings that make headlines.
