So the Celtics have the next week or so off for the All Star Game. Although the Sox pitchers and catchers reported yesterday they don’t start working out till tomorrow and the Bruins relevance isn’t yet on my radar. I could’ve reviewed the BC basketball game last night, but who would give a shit?
Now I’m not a huge NBA guy, knowledge wise when compared to my football and baseball knowledge but, I know enough that with the trading deadline looming I can hold my own in a discussion.
Which brings me to the topic at hand: the potential Jason Kidd trade.
Like the mug shot? Now I don’t like Jason Kidd the human being, after all he beat his wife, but as a point guard I think he’s fantastic. Now there’s a trade in place to move him back to the team that drafted him, bring his career full circle. But some no name piece of garbage Devean George (who?), is blocking the trade from happening?
“George, step into my office. ‘Cause you’re fucking fired.”
If this piece of shit was preventing my team from getting Jason Kidd, and I was Marc Cuban, I would put this guy out on the street and just eat the salary cap hit. “You wanna fuck with me, you’re gonna get fucked with,” to quote The Goat.
Now because of the delay Jerry Stackhouse has had time to run his mouth. Knowing that New Jersey is going to buy him out he’s saying he’ll wait the 30 days and resign with Dallas. The league isn’t too keen on that idea. When the Celtics did it with Gary Peyton, I thought it was awesome, if Dallas wants to do the same thing, who cares?
The bottom line is the NBA’s salary cap structure and guaranteed contracts have fucked the league so badly that the only way player movement can happen is with situations like this. You really think Minnesota trade’s KG to Boston without the Theo Ratliff expiring contract in the mix? No fucking way!
So hopefully this gets done and we see Kidd in Dallas, if for nothing else than getting another entertaining team in the NBA besides the Celtics.
Back Monday with who knows what. Maybe a recap of the Daytona 500? (left turn, left turn, left turn…)
