Pats vs. Steelers Preview

So Coach Bill says the team is tired, after playing in Prime Time for three weeks in a row, it’s almost weird to look at the schedule and see that Pats with an afternoon game in Foxboro. If the team didn’t have motivation enough, some player on the Steelers, Anthony Smith (it’s OK, I said “who?” too), starts running his mouth.”People keep asking me if we’re ready for the Patriots,” Smith said. “They should be asking if they’re ready for us.”

“We’re going to win,” Smith said. “Yeah, I can guarantee a win. As long as we come out and do what we got to do. Both sides of the ball are rolling, and if our special teams come through for us, we’ve got a good chance to win.” And how could you not win with such attractive fans like these

This moron Smith had the audacity to say, “They’ve got Walker and Moss but they’re not like Cincinnati.”

Look, we’ve talked about it earlier this week, and it’s a theme we’re going to stick with, the defense needs to show up this week. We can’t have 11 tackling dummies out there like Eli suggested earlier this week. I know the game plan will be to shut down Fast Willie Parker and take the Steelers out of their game. Get up early and make them throw the ball, playing from behind.

ESPN and their incredible reporting had Patriots Tight End Christian Fauria making quotes in the Patriots locker room. I actually clicked his name thinking that his signing went under the radar. No worries it hasn’t, he’s playing with the Panthers. WTF?!?

Is the Steelers team good defensivley? Absolutly. They managed to hold TJ Who’s-your-mama and Ocho-Cinqo under a hundred yards each in both their meeting this year. But as decent a player as Henry is on the Steelers, he’s no Wes Welker. If their scheme is to cover the outs look for Welker to have another huge.

It’s important (stating the obvious here) that the Pats establish the run early in the game so they can sell the play action. So we’re going to need for Maroney to sack up and actually play this week. So hopefully that means that he has a good week in practice so he’s not in Belichick’s dog house.

Coming into it the Pats are a 10.5 favorite as of Wednesday.  I think that this week, unlike last week’s dabocle, is going to be closer than the spread. I say Pats win 24-21. What have you got for a prediction?

Back Monday with a recap…
