Following a week in which your third down back Kevin Faulk was your starter at running back and you relied on your fullback Heath Evans to be your tailback (nothing screams tailback like a fat white guy), one has to ask the question; where is Corey Dillon?
Coach Belichick was interviewed a couple weeks back on the Big Show and was asked if the team would consider bringing back Dillon and coach Bill said that’s not something the team is interested in at this time. Well, then can you tell me what’s wrong with Maroney the Jabroni? Either he’s the most fragile back in NFL history, or is so stupid that he stays in Bill’s doghouse week after week.

Anyway you slice or dice it, there is an issue at running back for the Patriots. As Al Michaels pointed out Sunday night (thanks Eli for the reminder) Tom Brady’s passer rating is 150 on play action. It’s pretty tough to sell play action when your starting running back is riding the pine for the first half.
I know it seems like were pigeon holing it, but when you’re #1, people are gunning for you. You can’t have any weaknesses and going into the final 6 weeks of the season this seams to be a big flaw with the Pats. It wasn’t so noticeable when Sammy Morris was in there running like a young Corey Dillon, but since his injury the Pats look very thin at running back. So unless Maroney is going to smarten up or toughen up, I say you call Dillon and get him on the team. Ride him until the post season and then take San Fran’s #1 draft pick and get us a franchise running back.

(McFadden anyone?)
