I’m like most people. I don’t give a crap about certain sports until the Olympics but then you watch in prime time like every night. Gymnastics and swimming leap to the front of my mind.

Well two night’s ago I’m watching and they’re talking about a former champion that got caught doping. Really? My interest piqued. What sport?
Walking.
Yup. Walking is a sport. I know you’re thinking “hey fat ass, even if you walked you’d be less fat”, trust me I know.
Then I started to research a little more. These guys/girls are pretty impressive. They have a 12 miles event for men and women and the men have a 31 mile event.
The current record holder for the 31 mile race…3 hours 34 minutes 13 seconds. Essentially 6 minute miles, walking. My best run had me at 8:50 miles.
The rules is one foot has to be on the ground at all times. It’s a shorter stride than running because of it.
But yes, it’s a sport. Really.
