Stay Of Execution

He may not be trying to get fired like he shouted in the picture above but I think it’s time he is.

Had they been swept by the Twins over the weekend I think we’d be reading this morning about Valentine’s firing. A win yesterday I think delays the inevitable.

But let’s be perfectly clear, it’s still not his fault. The onus falls on the players.

I’m not saying Bobby has no fault here, I’m just saying that this dysfunctional, chaotic mess was inherited.

What changed from the beer drinking, fried chicken eating, video game playing self entitled assholes from last year? Nothing. The only thing that’s different is they traded “the snitch” believed to be Youkilis.

There’s a coach on the team hired before Valentine that went to management and said if he’s the manager, I want out. The brilliant Sox management wouldn’t let him leave. So Bobby and him rarely speak. Which is great for the workplace.

The bottom line is, he never was the fit. Until they have a manager that locks that back staircase (figuratively of course) and runs a tight enough ship where players don’t have the option to bitch to ownership and senior management it’s going to keep happening.

Senior management has to have the manager’s back too. When the players come-a-bitching they need to have the balls to tell the players to listen to their boss. The manager may not sign the checks but he is the boss in that chain of command.

What’s that old saying? Without order there’s chaos? Well that’s your 2012 Red Sox, chaos in a team incarnate.
