Yup, for the first time this season the Red Sox won a road game. Coming into the game they were 0-7 and yesterday managed to win their first road game of the season. Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, how about another one of those winning streaks?
Continuing on the theme of firsts, it was also Clay Buchholz’s first win of the season. After getting beat around in Texas and the Yankees he had a solid outing last Friday against Toronto. Daniel Bard bailed him out of a bases loaded jam in the sixth yesterday and helped Clay to get his first win of the season.
Is there anyone hotter right now than Jed Lowrie? Yesterday he had another two hits, including a two run homer. He’s batting .462 on the young campaign and is making it hard for Francona to take him out of the lineup. Yesterday Francona started him at third, moved Youkilis to the DH, and gave Ortiz the day off against Gio Gonzalez a lefty who’d been almost untouchable this season.
So after splitting the two game series in Oakland the Sox head down to Los Angeles for a four game set with the Angels. The Sox are winners in four of their last five games which is nice following their 2-10 start. More west coast baseball means a 10:05 start tonight and tomorrow, a 9:05 start on Saturday (6:05 in California = dumb), and wrapping up with a nice 3:35 start on Sunday.
But tonight we don’t really care too much as we’ll be watching the Bruins. So you’ll have to find your NESN+ channel if you want the Sox tonight.
