Short and sweet today.
I hit the Garden for the Bruins last night and thought it was hysterical listening to the fans beat on Dennis Wideman. Of course he couldn’t do his job and they gave up the first goal of the game.
And the fans beatfest of Wideman continued. Every time he was on the ice the fans screamed at him and really gave it to him. Totally, they’ve turned on him, myself included.
I watched Satan get the tying goal and then after the second period, we moved to a different section where I heard all new Wideman rips. For all that you hear it on sports radio, the fans at the Garden are hysterical.
After ripping him as soon as he touched the puck, he won back a few of the fans. He ripped a slap shot about 2 minutes into the period that gave the Bruins the lead. Add to that a Recchi goal with about four minutes left in the game and the final result is a 3-1 Bruins win against the Sabres.
Sure it was against the Sabres backup goalie but the Bruins needed the points and got them. They’re sitting at the #6 seed right now and would play that same Buffalo team if the season ended today.
We just need to hope the Bruins catch fire heading into the playoffs. They have goaltending and a pretty decent team defense, let’s just hope that they can score come playoff time. Lots of low scoring games come playoff time but you want to at least be on the scoreboard.
