Celtics Deal?

So the rumors were coming out starting Monday that perhaps the Celtics interest in Nate Robinson from a couple months ago hadn’t gone away. They persisted Tuesday into Wednesday that the deal was all but completed and that Eddie House would be the man off to New York. But as of this morning it was still a rumor.

Robinson has cleaned out his Knick locker and Eddie House was given the option of sitting out practice with the Celtics yesterday by coach Doc Rivers, yet no deal is done. The money doesn’t match up exactly so the two teams are likely working out the money difference.

But if you were the GM of the Celtics would you have traded House to get Robinson? I’m just saying that the team has KG, Big Baby and Wallace on all their depth chart ahead of Scalabrine. Why not sacrifice White Boy Wednesdays and send Scal instead of House? House at least gets minutes and although he’s not a great defender, he can give you a spark off the bench nailing threes.

So by the time some of you read this, a deal should be done for Robinson. But is that it? Nate Robinson is the key to you winning another championship? Don’t get me wrong I like his ups and his energy, but I don’t think he’s your solution.

I’m still in the trade Ray Allen camp and with the deadline looming at 3PM today you may be able to get more knowing that teams aren’t going to have time to go back and forth. If you lay down a trade that works and it’s already 2:30 EST, the team on the other end is going to have to pull the trigger. There’s just not time for another deal to be consummated. For all of you saying don’t do it, just remember Ray Allen bricking his way through the Finals against the Lakers.

Let’s hope tomorrow’s column comes with some great trades that involve the C’s getting younger so they have legs down the stretch in this year’s championship run.
