Danny Ainge was interviewed yesterday saying he would like to tweak the Celtics roster, not blow it up. He also shot down the Glen Davis and Ray Allen rumored trades from yesterday’s column.

Let me speak for everyone. Blow it up. I don’t care if you think you’re a contender. As constructed, you’re not. The team is a wonderful 9-12 since Christmas and have failed to close game after game. The team is old and limps to the finish way too much. Blow it up and get some pieces, specifically younger pieces that will have energy at the end of games.
Look if the team was blowing out everyone like they were two years ago, I would say, stand pat and add another banner to the rafters. Thing is, this isn’t the NHL. Just making the playoffs won’t cut it. The team is constructed to win and isn’t winning. That’s when you need to make a change. A big change. A big splash.
Think Nomar leaving the Sox in 2004. Did you like it? I don’t know if you did, but it bothered me. Then Cabrera showed up and the town fell in love with him. He was a much better fielder and didn’t sulk in the dugout. Then there was that whole World Series victory.
Danny has the opportunity to make a similar splash with the Celtics. Sure he make take criticisms initially for trading an icon like Ray Allen, but the bottom line is something needs to happen and the other people in the front office have to keep him aware of that fact.
SHAKE IT UP!!!
