Pats Beat Atlanta

I don’t know how many of you out there listen to 98.5 The Sports Hub, but I haven’t changed the dial since they came on the air. I bring this up because they’re the FM home for your New England Patriots. They’re also home to the Bruins and my boys in the morning Toucher and Rich.

Anyways, Toucher and Rich have a guy on the show named Crash. Crash played in a Bruins golf tournament and met a guy at the bar afterward. His name was Mike. More specifically he’s Mike “The Singing Plumber”. Well he has a whole bunch of CD’s that you can buy, all Boston sports related on his website. With hits like this, “The Pats Are Coming”.

You need to understand that since The Singing Plumber met Crash and gave him a few of his CD’s, this sing is all we’ve heard on all the shows as they break down the games and gear up for the next one.

“They show the AFC what is.” My favorite incomplete thought from the song.

Well, yesterday they showed the NFC what is.

From the get go when Matt Ryan just marched down the field you were a little worried. After last week you questioned whether or not the Patriots would be able to go blow for blow with them if they were both going to march up and down the field. Then the defense stopped them on third down and the Falcons settled for three.

The Patriots had their turn and right when you started to think that the offense was finally going to click, they ran out of gas and had to settle for a field goal of their own. Stephen Gostkowsi fantasy owners rejoice; the rest of Patriot Nation cringes. Little did we know at that point that would be the theme all day.

After failing to score a touchdown before the half, the Pats settled for their second field goal and a 13-10 lead. But Brady was pissed. If I read his lips correctly it was something to the effect of “What the fuck is this fucking shit. God damn it!”. Apparently that carried into the locker room and Brady beat Joey Galloway with a phone book (it doesn’t leave marks). Galloway sucks. A second week without Wes Welker and Galloway failed again to step it up. I’m saying you put this guy as the #4 after Welker’s back. Moss and Edelman on the outside, Welker in the slot and Galloway can see the field in the five wide sets.

Brady hit Chris Baker in the fourth for a 36 yard score ending their end zone futility with the pass that lasted seven quarters of football. Pats win 26-10. I predicted 34-17 and the over. Pats cover but didn’t hit the over (44). I think the red zone ineffectiveness and weather both played a factor.

Two injuries from the game. Laurence Maroney left with a “thigh injury’. Coincidental that his Sandyvagititus exists between his thighs? I think not. And then a real injury as Wilfork left with an ankle injury. There was a play yesterday where Wilfork was being held by the O-Lineman and his wingspan is so big that he was still able to tackle Turner with his other arm. If he misses significant time with Mayo already out for a few weeks, this team could be screwed.

Let’s not focus on the bad though. Pats win and are 2-1. Second place in the division behind the Jets. Baltimore next weekend should be interesting. Hooray hooray for Patriots.

This should be a good one. The Pats and the Ravens. A good “D” and “O” show. Pats need a running game. Thisnis cat is cool. I love em. http://bobbygee.wordpress.com/
