I’m getting ready for the column today and read a headline in the NY Daily News that “Ex-Patriot Ty Law rejoins Jets before first-place bout with New England”. Really? How about ex-Chief Ty Law? So Jeff had asked yesterday where the Law stuff was, well I was just saving it for today’s column.

This move is like the Yankees signing Grandpa Timlin before a big series with the Sox. Sure he’ll pass a physical, he still goes to the gym and is in decent shape. But when you bring him into a game situation and he’s maxing out the radar gun at 83 you’ll be kicking yourself. Well the same thing is going to happen tonight with Ty Law. You didn’t sign Ty Law 2002, you signed Ty Law 2008. There’s a reason this guy has been unemployed all season, everyone knows he’s lost a step.
His last decent season was in 2005 when he was with the Jets and had 10 picks. He won’t likely line up at corner tonight but will probably be a nickel/dime back and may see some time at safety similar to Jason Sehorn. Sehorn was a once great corner that lengthened his career by moving over to safety where it’s less apparent that he’s lost a step.
Is that enough Ty Law talk? That’s about 200 words worth.
On to the game itself. This game is going to be played in the rain and cold tonight. This is one of those games that you want to sell your tickets and stay home and stay warm. The boys will be out there playing in the slop and the last time the Pats and Jets played in the soup, the Jets beat the Patriots in a painful game. It was 2006 and the Pats lost 17-14. It was muddy, rainy, Brady had no wide outs, and it sucked.
Well since then the Patriots have installed the field turf so there’s no muddy mess, just slick turf. With the weather being a factor the running game will be key. Well the Pats running game has been playing very well this season taking a lot of burden off of Cassel-face and the passing game.
With weather playing a factor I don’t think this will be a high scoring affair. I say the Pats grind it out on the ground and play a possession game against the Jets. I say that the Pats win 17-10. Ty Law will be a non factor and Benjarvus Green-Ellis will rush for 130 yards and a score.
Back tomorrow with a recap. Go Pats!
Well, safe to say you were way off on that prediction. Now at the half, I’m glad I picked the Jets to cover at -4.5. But honestly, I figured on a 31-28 or 35-31 type game. Pats winning of course.
The real question is, How many injuries can the Pats withstand, and still compete for a title??? The pantry is running low on supplies, and there are many games left to play….
The second half is commin up.
Oh, and Casshole-face is still overthrowing Moss!!! UNEXCEPTABLE!
