So this weekend the Pats return to prime time for the third time in four weeks. I mean seriously, the schedule makers deserve to have their balls dipped in raw meat and released into the lions den. Not the Detroit Lions though because they simply would roll over and die.
So, enough complaining and on to Sunday night’s game. Coming into the game the Patriots and the Cassel-face led offense are improving more and more every week. Meanwhile on the other side of the ball the Clots (not a typo) seem to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory on a regular basis. We have a team with a two game winning streak coming into town to face a team riding a two game losing streak.
All of a sudden Marvin Harrision has lost more than a step. To the point that he may be single covered on Sunday so the Pats can lock down on Reggie Wayne who is questionable. The Clots running game has been absent and anyone playing Fantasy Football with a Colts running back knows too well what I’m talking about. Both Addai and Rhodes are questionable for the game as well.
So I check in with my friends at ESPN.com to see some match-ups and the like. Then I see that everyone on Sunday Countdown picked the Pats for this game. Even Tom Jackson who hates everything New England. Then I get to the breakdown. They give the Pats the advantage in every category except QB (obviously), RB (um, not if Morris is in there, DB (even without Bob Sanders I have to agree with that), and special teams. That last one really bothers me. The Pats special teams as far as kick return defense isn’t great, but the kicking game has been very solid.
So who do I pick? Well with the Pats being a 5.5 point underdog, even if they lose this game it’ll only be by three. But I don’t think that’s going to happen. I say the Pats are going to kick the crap out of the Clots and silence the stupid Clot fans. Pats roll 42-13.
Back Monday with a recap. Bring on the Peyton Face. Go Pats!
