With the Sox having the night off last night there’s not too much to talk about so I thought I’d just touch on a few different topics around the region.

We’ll start with the Sox who are front and center. Our boy Clay Buchholz, who gave me a ball at last year’s World Series, rejoins the big league club tonight. I hope his time in Pawtucket made him even hungrier and he comes out and pitches another gem tonight.
When Ortiz went down I predicted he was out for the season and the Sox needed to make a move. Well, judging from what I’ve seen since he went down, the replacement may already be here. Sean Casey, who took an 80% pay cut off his last year’s salary, is hitting .371 in limited time. If Coco is traded and Manny returns to left, Casey would be a great DH.
I’d like to see Coco moved during the break and get some relief help. The Yankees are hot on the Sox heals and are charging towards the Rays as well. Any Sox fan rooting for New York the past couple of days really doesn’t get baseball. You want to burry the Yankees. You don’t want them hanging around even with their ailing pitching staff.
Let me save you some suspense. Barry Bonds won’t play baseball this season. When his own agent says that no one’s called and offered him the league minimum and it’s July, just call it a career. Maybe if he wasn’t such an asshole, someone would be happy to call him up.
Onto some Celtics news.
The C’s lost out on the Corey Maggette sweepstakes. Rumored to join the Spurs or Celtics he ends up in Golden State? Now I can’t blame him for taking what amounts to be double what the Spurs and C’s were offering, but Golden State? Obviously he has no desire to win a championship, but given the same situation and age, we probably all would make the same decision.

So Danny is back to focusing on James Posey. The entire NBA found out in the Finals what we knew all year, that this guy was the best 6th man in basketball. I don’t care if he didn’t win the award, he clearly was. So the C’s are offering him their full mid level exemption rumored at three or four years. It’s also rumored that the Lakers, Washington, New Orleans, Cleveland, and Orlando are all going to offer him the same. Why wouldn’t you return to Boston? You won a Championship here, you get along with the boys, just return to Boston.
Back Monday with a recap of the Baltimore series. Then I’ll have to make up some headlines Tuesday through Thursday because I don’t watch the WNBA. I guess the All Star game recap would be alright, but Thursday’s column is going to suck worse than this one.
You’ve been warned.
Well, it looks like I may get my wish. Lugo just went down running to first in the bottom of the 9th. My guess is we won’t see much of him till at least next thursday, hopefully longer…
How dare you! Big Papi, out for the season? Don’t say that shit! My Beantown Bonghitters need him back… SOON! And whats his face is NO Papi! Is he a free agent? Gotta go….
