Well after a pretty tough weekend against the Cardinals, the Sox welcomed the Diamondbacks to Fenway. Things didn’t get any better.
In what was a fantastic pitching duel, the Sox couldn’t manage to get a hit when it counted.
While watching the game I saw a few fans with their rally caps on. I’m pro-rally cap. I think it’s because it goes back to my little league days.
However, there are assholes that don’t even take off their hat during the National Anthem. Oh, really asshole. I think that anyone that doesn’t take their hat off during the anthem should not only be escorted out of the park, but let’s take it to an absurd point beyond that and have them shot in an alley behind the stadium/park/arena. Even worse are the Canadien fans that actually “boo” during the U.S. anthem. People should have some pride and start a fight Canadian Bacon style.
Youk took a ball to the face during warm-ups. What? Boy, if you’re the guy who threw the ball in the dirt (Lowell) I bet you feel pretty bad that not only do you lose your gold gloved first baseman but with no backup (Casey on suspension) the team was forced to bring in a rookie to his spot in the lineup. Great.
So of course you knew that would bite you in the ass. Moss bobbled the ball allowing the second Arizona run to score. Then he steps up with runners on first and second and hits a wuss grounder up the line that the pitcher plays and tags him out. Then with two outs Lauren’s man “Mr. Anti-Clutch” struck out to end the inning. There is nothing more predicable than Jason Varitek striking out in a situation like that than him hitting into a double play with a runner on first.
Again, it was a great game but you always want your team to come out on top. Let’s hope the Sox right the ship and can win this series.
