So with the Celtics having the night of, I met up with some family for dinner last night. A very good time was had by all. We leave the restaurant and I turn on the Sox.
“And heading into the ninth, the Sox lead 6-1.”
Fantastic, some more home cooking for the Sox and they can make up for the bullpen imploding on Tuesday night.
But wait.
It was like watching wrestling, you could hear Jim Ross back in the day, “What’s that, oh my gawd it’s Mike Timlin’s music. Why would they bring him out here?”
Good question indeed Mr. Ross. This guy should be regulated to mop up guy when the Sox are down 6-1, not up 6-1.
So what does he do?
Let’s see, gives up two doubles and cuts the Sox lead to 6-2. Well he doesn’t work clean, we know this by now. Then Dusty boots the third out and now it’s 6-3. Then a pinch hit single put men on first and second with the tying run coming to the plate.
Best call Papelmania to bail your ancient ass out. Sure enough Paps gets the all important third out.
So on a night where he should have had the day off, Papelbon has to come in and clean up after Grandpa Timlin. If I were him, I’d say something to him in the locker room to the effect of, why don’t you think about hanging up the cleats.

Timlin relaxing on the clubhouse couch after another shitty performance
It’s ridiculous. Theo, make the move! Please!!!

While I’m feelin it….
I should mention the genious that was Doc Rivers tonight. He made some outstanding substitutions. Matching up the right people at the right time. He was as much a part of this monumental game as anyone. I hope the Boston press will give him a little credit tomorrow.
