In Case You Missed It

No I’m not talking about Manny’s 500th (or 501st or 502nd), not the Celts vs. Lakers NBA Finals (I covered that yesterday and will hit it again tomorrow), and no I’m not talking about the Red Sox trailing the Rays by 1.5 games after Okie-Dokie blew a game last night.

Nope, my “big news” is two different stories.

The “light news” first is that NESN and Hazel Mae have decided to part ways. There weren’t many details available off the bat. What we do know is that Mae is the one that decided to leave and she’ll be done at the end of the month.

Here’s my theory. After countless complaints from wives, girlfriends, and every jealous female that gets NESN in their house NESN went to Hazel and told her to stop wearing the low cut tops and sexy skirts. So for the last year and a half we’ve had a way toned down Hazel every morning. Hazel, not being a dummy realizes that they’re covering up “her assets”, is going to leave NESN and hopefully take a job at ESPN.

Good luck Hazel, we’ll miss you. Now let’s get a suitable replacement. I think that in house NESN can go with Heidi Watney who is doing the sideline reports for the Sox broadcasts.

It may provide the same complaints to NESN, so I say they go with Mikey Adams. After he leaves his WEEI broadcast at midnight he can drive over to NESN and do the broadcast for Sportsdesk. Why not? Mikey’s the best and likely wouldn’t produce “sexy” complaints (no offense Mikey.)

But the important news that’s coming out on the Sox is that Big Papi may be out for the season with an injury to his wrist. That’s right, depending on who you read, we’ve seen anything from a month (with rest), to the rest of the season (with surgery). Always the optimist I say he’s done for the season and the Sox need to make some decisions.

They sign Barry Bonds.

Calm down, I was just trying to get a rise out of you. Look they have the best DH in baseball on their team already, Manny Ramirez. Yeah, I said it. Think back to 2001 when Manny was DH’ing for the beginning of the season and he was batting like .400. Manny had the opportunity to go into the tunnel, up to the video room, and could review his previous at bat and get ready for his next at bat.

Manny is a hitter and as his career will start to go into his twilight, he will be a full time DH anyways.

So with Manny at DH, that opens up a spot in the outfield and the logjam (not Logjammin’ another Lebowski reference) takes care of itself. Coco in center, Jacoby in left and JD Drew in right. You can mix and match if they need a day off by putting Manny in the outfield but for the most part Manny will be the full time DH.

Will it hurt having Ortiz’s protection in the lineup? Of course it will, but getting a faster outfield and speed on the basepaths may prove to help the team. Time will tell, but I’m not worried.

  1. R.I.P. Hazel “Guns” Mae.

Well I do have to disagree on the “jealous female” part. Sorry, she’s not that hot and I am far from jealous. Maybe if I were a wife (or girlfriend for that matter) I’d scoff at her more, but highly doubt it.
    I’m so much hotter. (HAHAaaaa!)

My guess is, she’s bangin’ someone (other than random players in the locker room) and got busted. Its as simple as that.

    Holla!

Good blog. I’m not worried about Papi either. Although, I’m not so sure how much longer they’ll keep Crisp around. If there are no more significant injuries, particularly to outfielders, I think he’ll be gone by the all-star break. Sucks to hear about Hazel Mae.
