What a Great Weekend

I mean Friday’s post was shock and awe, today’s is that plus 1,000. Who would have thought, not only that the Bruins would win but, that they would come back 2-1 and 3-2 and win 5-4. Amazing!

So on the Bruins front it’s a game seven tonight in Montreal and really you have to think that the B’s have momentum in their favor. They scored just five goals in the first four games and exploded for five goals in each of the last two. I make no prediction for tonight as I’ve written them off as dead since the post season started and don’t want to jump on the Johnny Come Lately Bandwagon. What I can say is that playoff hockey is awesome!

The Sox came back to win Sunday’s game without Manny in the lineup as he was ousted in the second inning. I think the only change I would have made is in the top of the ninth I’d have Youk in left, Lowrie at third, Pedroia at second, and I’d have kept Lugo at short. Just my opinion as Youk has at least played in left before.

The Sox going into their AM game today for Marathon Monday have won four straight and seven of their last eight, oh and they have the best record in the A.L. Not bad for a team without it’s starting third baseman and a questionable rotation after Beckett.

In other baseball news, Frank Thomas was released by the Blue Jays. Now, I don’t want Frank Thomas on the Sox (there’s really no room for him) but wouldn’t be surprised if he would up in Tampa Bay. Could this open the door to Barry Bonds possibly going to the Jays? That was my first thought, but only time will tell.

And finally we come to the team that most of Boston was buzzing about, the Celtics. There is little doubt in this writer’s mind that the C’s sweep the first round. It’s almost a no brainer. Especially if you base it on last nights whopping of the Hawks. It’s almost like the NFL and a buy for the C’s.

So Sox this morning, Bruins tonight, and then you have to wait till Wednesday to see the Celtics again. Let’s hope the Bruins are ready for prime time tonight. I’m actually excited to watch a hockey game for the first time in about 5 years.
