Holy Crap!

MONTREAL—Glen Metropolit scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period after Montreal goalie Carey Price caused a reckless turnover and the Boston Bruins went on to beat the Canadiens 5-1 Thursday night to avoid elimination in their first-round series.

Tim Thomas stopped 31 shots for the Bruins, who now trail the Eastern Conference quarter-final 3-2.

Yeah, that’s all the AP had on the game. Are you fucking kidding me? Um, last I checked this is playoff hockey and as much as I have written off the Bruins, I’m shocked that the AP would have such a short blurb about the game.

The bottom line is that I was absolutely shocked that the B’s pulled this out. I mean, my friend “HAB H8R” said that Montreal would be too cocky and not expect the hungrier Bruins and he was dead on. So what does it mean from here? Well, first up it means a game at the Garden on Saturday night. Beyond that though it’s anyone’s guess.

The two teams played each other really tough in games 2-4 with blow outs book ending those three games. I’d love to see the Bruins get past the Habs if for nothing other than it really pisses of Canadiens when their hockey teams lose, especially when they’re the #1 seed. Who knows, it may lead to a Canadian strike.

Oh and the Red Sox, more specifically Josh Beckett and Manny Ramirez, beat the Yankees on Thursday night marking the first time the Sox and Bruins both won on the same night since Sunday! Interesting side note is that Boston beat the team with the most Stanley Cup victories and most World Series twice in a week. Way to go Boston.

So this weekend you get the Sox and the Rangers. Sox should easily win three of four if not sweep the whole series, you have the Bruins fighting for their lives Saturday, and a little NBA Championship run starting at the Garden on Sunday. So hit the packie Friday and stock up because there’s plenty of sports to keep you busy.

  1. I have less than no faith in the Bruins. But that was the best game I’ve seen in a long long time!
