I woke up this morning I didn’t know what I was going to write about but I figured our teams on Causeway St would give me some ideas.
So the Bruins won two straight over Toronto after I tore them apart in my column on Monday. They beat the snot out of them on Tuesday in Toronto putting six goals on the board and then won 4-2 yesterday. So they scored 10 goals in two games after scoring that many goals they scored in their previous 7 games. Maybe I should rip them more often.
The Celtics are looking to beat New Orleans tonight. If they’re successful in knocking off the Hornets (one writer in Simmons’ mailbag suggests New Orleans takes Utah’s name. New Orleans Jazz would be pretty cool) they’ll have beaten every team in the NBA at least once. I know that I’ll be watching, well, unless I go out to the movies or something but I will certainly DVR if that happens.
The big news coming on Causeway Street is that it may not be called Causeway Street anymore!?! That’s right. The Boston city council is proposing that the city change the name to Red Auerbach Way. Mumbles Menino (click the link, it’s hysterical) supports the proposal.
Look, I’m all for honoring Red, but does it have to be Causeway Street? Why not Portland Street right across from the arena? I just don’t want Causeway Street gone. I know it won’t kill Causeway Day, but what will it be? Red Auerbach Way Day? The street formerly known as Causeway Day?
While we’re talking about the inhabitants of the arena on Causeway Street let’s talk about the arena itself. The Shawmut Center, Fleet Center, “YourGarden” (remember you could pay for to name it for a day?), and now the TD Banknorth Garden. Well get ready for another possible change. That’s right! TD Banknorth is going to become TD Commerce Bank. So we’ll likely see another name change.
What the fuck? How about you call it “The (New) Boston Garden”. That’s it. No more fucking naming rights. The only way I’d accept a naming again is if Arizona based Pink Taco restaurants buys the rights. The Pink Taco Garden. Awesome.

Tacos rule!
Big Jeff keepin it short and sweet, or breif and mexican if you prefer. Breif and mexican, there’s an oxymoron.
Jay, good blog today, bringing anger back. Or just bringing “what the fuck???” back. I love the Idea of Red Auerbach’s Way. Maybe that fucking jesus freak out front will start passing out cigars instead of repentance flyers.
Causeway Day, will ALWAYS be Causeway Day. It’s been grandfathered into the social fabric of the Native Bostonian. No one EVER called it the “FleetCenter!” It was the Garden, or the NEW Garden. I’d be ok with the TD Boston Garden.
I’m so friggin torn. My new Binkies from Davidson are blowing out UW, while the Celtics are in a heated brawl with the Charlotte/Oklahoma/New Orleans Hornets. And as I type, the bullshit ass refs are throwing technicals around like cheeleaders with free t-shirts. Don’t get the big ticket angry. I really hope you are watching the Celts game. Every one is an event, a spectacle, a site to behold. The sold-out crowd is heated, the refs are making it worse… This is gonna be fun!
Shake It the FUCK UP!!!!
p.s.- The head ref is Kenny Mauer, from the famed Tommy Heisnsohn call… “They’re gonna call it a hard foul, THEY’RE GONNA CALL IT A HARD FOUL!!??these guys are REDICULOUS! (x3) This Kenny Mauer outta go home to his wife, cus no one here loves him….”- shake it up ;^)~
