Answer is probably no deal for the Celtics.
After the KG and Ray Allen trades they really don’t have the chips to pull off a deal.
The team needs a back-up point guard especially come playoff time. If Rondo gets in foul trouble the team is going to have a tough time of it especially against good PG’s like Chauncey Billups.
Well Chauncey Billups isn’t walking through that door, but the rumor mill keeps sending Sam Cassell down the pipe to the C’s. Not opposed to that idea at all considering the Celts would get him for a minimum contract.
Bottom line is that he’s played with KG in Minnesota and is that veteran PG that this team has desperatly needed all season.
A team that’s 41-10 we really shouldn’t have any complaints but just like when the Sox are up 10 games in June and Drew, Coco and Lugo are all batting a Grebekian .230 and are pretty much guarenteed outs every time they step in the box, the fans know their team and what weaknesses exist. Having Cassell on this team with the way they’re clicking I think would solidify this team for the stretch run and all of a sudden if Rajon gets into foul trouble or has an off night, you’re not worried.
So after Thursday 3:30PM EST, I hope it’s just a matter of hours, not days, that Cassell comes on board.
