A Ring for Junior

Imagine you play 13 years for one franchise, your one trip to the Super Bowl with that team is an absolute massacre and not in your favor. You sign a deal with the Miami Dolphins thinking the team is better that they truly are and you miss the playoffs every, injury plagued, season you’re there.
This was the exact scenario that Junior Seau was facing, a sure fire Hall of Famer was set to retire when he got the call from Bill Belichick. Enticed by the opportunity to win that elusive Super Bowl ring Junior soon signed with the Patriots and upped the average age of the Pats linebacking core. Junior wearing Big Willie’s number 55 which Big Willie wore at USC after Seau left. Ah the Circle of Life.
So now Junior, who was on IR when the Pats faced off against the Colts in last years AFC Championship, came back this year unsatisfied and hungrier, I’m sure, than he was last year for that ring. You have to imagine that if a healthy Seau was playing in last year’s AFC Championship Game, the Pats win the game and the Super Bowl.
But this is the Patriots. No looking to the past, it’s all about the next opponent, the next notch in the belt. I’m sure a veteran like Seau will have no distractions heading into this game and there’s no way he leaves Arizona without a Championship. The team, besides wanting to be the first 19-0 team, wants to win a ring for the guys in the locker room that have never shared in that glory.
As Tom Brady says, his favorite Championship is the next one. This will be Junior’s first and I’m sure he’ll retire after he wins and it’ll be that much sweeter to go out on top, opposed to retiring after an injury plagued three seasons in Miami.

Eli was in AZ and we met up for diner and we were talking pats. One thing he brought up which is think is very true is that the Giants are getting to the point that they are over confident. I agreed with him, and said that the media in general is latching onto this vibe. Eli also brought up a point that the Pats are like that scene in the movie Speed Zone. A Lamborghini and a Jag are racing each other, and the keep pulling on each other neck and neck. The Lambo(aka the Pats) looks over, waves and shifts into another gear and takes off. I can so see something like that happening with a nice field, warm temps, and some rest.

It’s a good day when you can make a Speed Zone reference and everyone knows exactly what you’re talking about.
I’m so psyched up to see these NY assholes crying in their beers
