The Pats pursuit of perfection picks back up Sunday against the Chargers.  Does anyone remember what happened the last time these two hooked up? I do…

The Pats spanked them to the tune of 38-14. 

Let’s flash back to maybe the game before that when these two matched up. Does anyone remember that game? I remember that one too…

That’s right the Pats won that game too, 24-21 in San Diego. The then #1 seed was toppled by the Patriots.

That was then and this is now. The Patriots have a sour taste over what happened in last year’s AFC Championship and have no intention of going home after this game. Vegas seems to think the same thing setting the line at 13 earlier this week and it’s already been bumped up to 14 despite the fact that game time temperature is supposed to be in the teens with a wind chill near zero. Did I mention the 25MPH winds? 

Injuries are going to play a huge factor with which Chargers team the Pats see. The Chargers are coming to Foxboro a banged up squad. Following the Indy game San Diego has LT, Rivers and  Antonio Gates all hurting. None of them participated in practice on Wednesday and although they may try to give it a go on Sunday, I think it’s safe to say none of them will be at 100%.

With swirling winds how will the Pats win this game? The same way that they’ve won all season long, by exploiting the opponents defense. Last week The Jags dropped a safety to double Moss opening up Welker and Watson underneath.

I know it was very long ago (week two) and the Chargers tried to match up with the Pats receivers one and one, that worked out well…for the Pats. Welker and Moss each caught eight passes, Moss for 105 yards and two scores, Welker for 91 yards. We had a healthy Sammy Morris in the backfield with Maroney and together they combinded for over 125 yards on just 25 carries.

So to recap the Chargers defense couldn’t stop the pass or the run by the Pats and lost by 24.  I don’t expect Sunday to be any different from the last two meetings. The Pats have a huge folder on Chris Chambers from his days with Miami and I’m sure in that same Miami folder they has a “Norv Turner is an idiot” sub file. This is the same Norv Turner that did so well in Oakland, to the tune of 5-11 and 4-12, that he got his ass fired from the worst football teamin the NFL. Stay classy indeed San Diego.

Pats roll in this way, weather be damned 42-10. The “D” is going to get at least 14 of those points and the media will still be cry-babies about “Spy Gate”. LET IT GO! This sets up a showdown of the ‘97 Super Bowl when the Pats get to beat up on the Packers and avenge the Flying Elvis’ only Super Bowl defeat. It’s good to be the king.
