Way to Suck

Well, to anyone that bet this month’s mortgage payment on my playoff picks this past weekend, I’m sorry. I mean, getting any of the games right would have been cool, but to botch every single one of them. What the fuck?

 Washington at Seattle (-3.5) O/U 40.5 (Jay’s pick Washington 21-10)
So Washington had a Collins starting at quarterback so I should have known better (Todd & racist Kerry both suck). The Redskins went up 14-13 and I thought that I had it locked, the team would swap a couple field goals and the Skins defense would stop a late Seahawks drive. OR the Redskins could blow a 30 yard field goal, punt on their next possession and Matt Hasselwhore could drive his team 42 yards for the score and a two point conversion. The aforementioned Todd Collins then decides to throw a pick returned for 78 yards for another touchdown (blowing my under call) and just for good measure throws another pick returned for 57 yards icing the game for Seattle 35-14. Suck it Redskins.

Jacksonville (-2.5) at Pittsburgh O/U 39.5 (Jay’s pick Jags 35-20)
Well at least this was a little better than the early game. I at least picked the over correctly but didn’t think that the game was going to be as close as it was. Thinking Willie Parker was the key was pretty right, despite his two scores, Davenport only managed 25 total yards. Roethlisberger said after the game that he lost it for the team, throwing three picks seams to hurt your chances of winning. Dave Garrard sucked in the passing aspect (9/21 140 Yards 1 TD 2 Int’s) of his game but totally made up for it with his wheels when it counted running for 32 yards and setting up the game winning field goal. Jags win 31-29 and don’t cover.

Giants at Tampa Bay (-3) O/U 39.5 (Jay’s Pick Bucs 13-7)
Waking up and checking Saturdays scores I was a little down but I thought a Manning in the playoffs was a loss lock. Even my wife was calling for Eli to make the “Peyton Face” and we were rewarded a drive in when Eli went three and out. Things were looking good, so I thought. Not that Eli had a great game but Jeff “I’m not gay” Garssssssssssia wasn’t bringing anything to the table for the Bucs. The Bucs offence was non-existent and they punted on almost every drive. John Gruden, Little Chucky, is an overrated coach. When he won the Super Bowl with Tampa it was a team that was already built and I could’ve coached them to a Super Bowl win. Maybe not but you get my point. So I had the under right, but was way off thinking the Giants would go on the road and suck. Oh well, Giants win 24-14.

Titans at Chargers (-9.5) O/U 40 (Jay’s Pick Chargers 21-14)
So a pretty uneventful first half the Titans went into the half up 6-0. How much were all Pats fans pulling for the Titans to pull this one out? Beat up the Titans in the playoffs just like Super Bowl rolls of the past? Seemed too perfect. So the Chargers come out in the second have and score 17 unanswered points and seal the deal with an LT touchdown to ice the game. So once again I got the over/under correct again (three out of four aren’t bad in that regard) but blew the spread on all the games. Chargers win 17-6.

Recapping, if I had bet $50 on the spread on every game and another $50 on the over/under on every game I’d only be down $50 so maybe it’s not as bleak as I made it out to be. So hopefully this coming weekend I can choose better without so many fraud teams in the picture. Only time will tell.
