Seriously what the fuck!?? The Celtics play once every five days and one of those is going head to head against the Pats, the Red Sox are mum on the trade front and the Bruins have yet to peak my interest. So today I purpose to you this question:

Which logo do you like better for the Pats? Old School or New School?

 The old school represents so many bad memories. The great 11-3 1976 team that lost to the Raiders in the divisional playoffs. The team two years later that lost to the Oilers in the same round. In ‘82 they lost to the Dolphins in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and of course we remember the Cinderella team that won three road games to get to the Super Bowl only to lose to the Bears an embarrassing 46-10. The last playoff appearance for “Pat Patriot” was another loss in the divisional round in ‘86 to the Broncos.

Then the Krafts bought the team. After owning the stadium the 6 seasons prior the Krafts became owners of the team as well. Bringing in Bill Parcells to coach as Drew Bledsoe was coming into his own, we thought things were going to change. New logo (rolled out by brief Patriots owner James B. Orthwein), new team, new attitude. The team went to the Super Bowl in the 1996 playoffs only to lose to Green Bay. But after Pete Carrol left the team following the 1999 season the Patriots brought in Bill Belichick.  

Bill was received with a wonderful 5-11 season his first year with the team. But then Mo Lewis knocked out Drew and Brady stepped in (in week 2) and a 5-5 team went on to become an 11-5 team and score a 1st round bye in the playoffs. They then won the Super Bowl despite being a 14 point underdog. The team retooled in 2002 and went on to win the Super Bowl in 2003 and again in 2004 and have been in the playoffs every year since 2003.

So, you’d think that with all the winning that I would swear allegiance to the “Flying Elvis” yet I’m very partial to “Pat Patriot”. The team hasn’t worn the Pat Patriot uniform since 2002, coincidentally the last year they didn’t make the playoffs. The way I look at it is, you can’t forget where you came from. The Patriots used to be a laughing stock in the league having three separate 2 win seasons and one very forgettable 1-15 season.

So bask in our glory that we’re enjoying now; we’ve suffered long and hard and deserve it.
